What does a horse need to learn basic training and other lessons safely?
In addition to the horse’s natural needs such as food, water, light and social contact, it needs a patient, consistent rider who is confident in his own ability. But that’s not all. A big additional point is that the horses need to be comfortable. They must have enough rest periods, free running, but also employment.
That is why it is always nice to see our training horses lying down and obviously relaxed and content in their boxes, the paddocks or the pasture.
Factors influencing the success of learning
Paddock and pasture time for the horses
Whether stallion, gelding or mare, with us every horse is allowed out into the fresh air. In order to offer the training and competition horses enough variety and to satisfy their needs, the horses come outside alone or as a pair.
With the current temperatures, we naturally make sure that the horses do not have to stand outside in the hot midday sun and that they have the opportunity to find a shady spot.
Colt from own breeding
Not only in sport we can present ourselves successfully, also in breeding we could not be more satisfied. Our latest foal makes the breeder’s heart beat faster.
We don’t know bad weather
Our training and tournament horses are able to go outside almost all the time. Despite rain, fog or wind – spare time in the opens is good for everyone. To offer the horses enough movement and variety, they get to relax on the paddock even in the winter months. Of course the horses are dressed according to the weather. Because: there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!
FRANDROKUS
The son of Franziskus with a strong character.
“Frandrokus” is teachable and motivated in the saddle. His very good gaits and his flawless character makes that gelding an absolute special one. At this moment the impressive and long legged brown one has a stick measure of 1.74 m and embodies the large modern type. The gelding was successfully ridden at tournaments already.

“Sultan” does not only impress with his excellent gaits, but also with his appearance. At the moment this impressive 4 year old chestnut has a stick measure of 1.70 m and shows himself motivated under the saddle. This athletic modern gelding was successfully presented at tournaments already.

Pedros training pays off
Last weekend three of Pedros students were successful. We can be happy together with Lia Teichmann who was able to get a ranking three times in a row at the riding tournament in Bockhorn/Grabstede. She claimed the 4th place in the dressage horse tournament Kl. L on “Future Star”, also the 4th place in the dressage tournament Kl. L with curb and at the dressage tournament Kl. L with snaffle she won the 1st place.
Also Evke Schröder was ranked at the riding tournament in Bockhorn/Grabstede. She won the 3rd place with the just four year old mare “Donna Deluxe” in the riding horse tournament.
Furthermore Marie Ehlen was able to get ranked four times at the riding tournament in Zeven. She claimed the 7th place with “Arts Deltano” in the dressage tournament Kl. L with curb, the 6th place in the dressage tournament Kl. L and won the 1st place in the dressage rider tournament Kl. A. Also the placed 2nd with horse “Cooper” in the dressage rider tournament Kl. A.
We are very happy about the results and wishing the riders a continuous success.
From old to new
Before the cold temperatures are coming to us, we took the chance to clean and paint the stable corridor and horse boxes. This way the mares, foals, young horses and seniors went back from the pasture into clean and bright boxes. The tournament and trainee horses are happy about the bright and clean boxes as well.
As special thanks to our diligent helpers!
Large article in “Der Pferde-Zirkel”
In the current issue of the horse magazine “Der Pferde-Zirkel” is a large, two page article about Pedro Pavao GmbH. The article’s about an interview with Pedro and answers questions like “What’s important to you when training horses?” and “Which principles and riding style are you practicing?”.
We’re happy about every opportunity to teach about Pedros practice methods. A big thanks to Claudia Friemert and the whole “Der Pferde-Zirkel” team.
